Chair+Pillow+Floor Lamp

I love putting these vignettes together. I feel alive when there is tension in an interior!!! Maybe I should see a therapist...Maybe you should have some tension in your life. Enter the Lyla chair from Oly. This chair could live in any interior based on the pillow it held. My choice is this fabulous skull pillow from Hable Construction. When you mix two opposing styles like this, add the "little black dress"of floor lamps, the spun floor lamp from Design Within Reach. -dann

No Excuse For A Boring Lamp

OK. So I am on the war path against boring accessories. I am so over all of us taking ourselves so seriously!!! Who needs an imitation brass candlestick with a white pleated shade now? These unforgettable lamps frome Shine Home are the stuff dreams are made of. Take a risk! I feel like a rockstar since I welcomed the Belmont table lamp into my entry hall! -dann

Adventures in a Rental House

So earlier this spring I moved into a new rental house. Lucky for me I could paint the walls, but as a self-proclaimed maximalist, there were a few things I couldn't put up with. My first life-saving find was this amazing rug from FLOR. This carpet tile can easily be "installed" wall to wall by cutting with a scissors and sticking together with tape. Even better, you can move it with you and use it again. It can also be cleaned easily by removing just one tile and spraying it off with a garden hose! After pretending to ignore the bare lightbulbs hanging from a white construction receptacle in my bedrooms, I stumbled across these clip on drum shades from Pottery Barn. These shades simply pop on to a bare lightbulb. Total upgrade!!! Lastly, the carpet on my stairs looks like it might have been ready to be replaced in the 70's. My solution was this inexpensive runner from Dash & Albert. Since they come in 12 foot sections, I ordered two and stapled them over my carpet. Suddenly my place is feeling a lot less beige! -dann

The Perfect Dining Group

This is our dining group of the moment. I just put this Halo chandelier from Roost in my dining room and swear it is stopping traffic in front of my house when it's on at night. The De La Tour chairs from Urban Outfitters would probably mix with any table you put them with, but we would love to see them mixed with the Strut dining table from Blu Dot. This table comes in 4 colors and for some reason we're obsessed with this olive color. -dann
